Welcome to Selwyn Speech Studio
Hello, I’m Elissa, Speech-Language Therapist and the Clinical Director of Selwyn Speech Studio.
I created Selwyn Speech Studio to support children who are finding communication or literacy challenging, and to walk alongside families during what can sometimes feel like an overwhelming journey. My approach is warm, calm, and child-centred, with a strong focus on helping children feel confident, understood, and supported.
Every child I work with is different. I take the time to really get to know each child — their strengths, interests, and needs — and tailor therapy accordingly. Sessions are engaging and encouraging, while still being structured and evidence-based, so children can make meaningful progress in a way that feels positive and achievable.
I also believe that parents and caregivers play a vital role in a child’s communication journey. Supporting families with practical strategies and clear communication is an important part of my work, so progress can continue beyond our sessions.
It’s a privilege to support children as they develop their communication skills and confidence, and I would love the opportunity to support your child too.

Selwyn Speech Studio provides individualised speech and literacy support for children who need extra help with communication and learning.
Services are designed for children with speech sound difficulties and literacy challenges, and are delivered in a warm, encouraging, and engaging environment. Sessions are tailored to each child’s needs, with a strong focus on building confidence and supporting families throughout the process.
All services are provided in person, during school hours, by appointment, for children and families across Selwyn and the western suburbs of Christchurch.

Evidence-based literacy support for children who need extra help with reading and spelling. Sessions are structured, supportive, and paced to suit each child, using the Sounds-Write programme.
